I would like to give an honest account of my stay here. I stayed for one night with my mom & my uncle because we had business in Manhattan. To that end- the location is very easily accessible by train. The train station is a short distance by foot. The room was very clean with lots of space. The staff was courteous & kind. Breakfast options were great- eggs, bacon, French toast & pastries were on offer when I stayed. Good coffee too. My only complaint- this hotel is in an old building- they used to be apartments- and thus, the windows have terrible noise insulation. You will hear the hustle & bustle of the community. I’ve stayed in downtown NYC & Chicago and not experienced anywhere near the levels of noise from the outside as I did in this hotel. We ended up checking out a night earlier than anticipated because we had a long drive ahead of us & it became clear sleep was probably not on the table. A note about the neighborhood- it’s located in a very diverse neighborhood. You will see black & brown people outside. This doesn’t bother me, but it may bother some people. Parking is a nightmare in Jersey- this place does offer a parking lot & they charge you $37 a night. There are other public garages nearby. Consider the options that work best for you. Be ready to pay for your entire visit upfront as well as a deposit which will be refunded when you check out. A note- it was disappointing to hear that because we chose to leave at 9 pm on a Monday instead of the 12 pm check out Tuesday, I would not be refunded for the night I didn’t use. If I had been able to get any sleep I would have been happy to stay. It seems punitive to make a customer pay for a service they didn’t use. I was told because I didn’t leave by 12 pm “they couldn’t use the room for anyone else” so I would still be charged. Forgive me- but that seems unreasonable. If I don’t use it, don’t charge me. It’s not like you’re hurting for bookings and if you are, it’s likely because of inconsiderate policies like this one. I would say if you’re someone who is coming for a quick errand to the area, you can certainly book here because the location is convenient- but know what you’re getting into & plan accordingly. Bring noise canceling headphones because otherwise you won’t get any sleep.

Really good placement close to the PATH train to Manhattan. The airport shuttle was an amazing plus. Room was clean. Breakfast could be better, but it had some variety. Would come back here

We were very pleased with our hotel choice for our trip to New York. The staff were friendly and helpful. We thought the breakfast was fantastic. There is a free hourly shuttle service to Newark Airport. Staying here was extremely sensible considering the chaos of New York, and transportation was quite easy with the Path train. Thank you for everything, we recommend it to everyone.

Good hotel with big rooms and breakfast, close to Journal square station. Free shuttle to EWR is also a plus. The location is average, but not bad (looked a bit sketchy but didn't feel unsafe, the area looks generic within the journal sq vicinity). The lady concierge during night time (we arrived at around 9 pm on Feb 14, was not able to get her name) was very nice and helpful.

Stayed in the hotel for 9 nights. Overall great experience and value for money. Close to PATH for NYC. They were cleaning our room every day. The breakfast could be a bit better but overall good for the budget. Thank you very much. I recommend it.

At first glance, the neighborhood looks questionable and so you wonder about the hotel itself. Let me tell you this: Do not let the outer appearance of the neighborhood fools you because the hotel and inside of the hotel is very nice and clean! The staff is very friendly, courteous and helpful. The location is only 1 block from the PATH train station (Journal Square station) which takes you easily into NYC in less than 20 min to The Rockerfeller Center and Empire State Building which is also not that far from Times Square. Or if you go to the 9/11 Memorial and the One World Observatory, it’s only 3 stops away from that PATH Journal square train station! It is VERY convenient without paying the high NYC hotel prices! We used Lyft to get to Liberty State park for our ferry to the Statue of Liberty and it was ver convenient, about 20 min from the hotel. The hotel is also right around the corner from a street that has many restaurants, markets and stores, right along the way to/from the train station, so it is extremely convenient!! Most stores open around 9, 10 in the morning while the supermarkets are opened earlier. The hotel offers a good spread of breakfast which is included in your stay. They have coffe, tea, juices, pastries, croissants and slices of white bread which you can toast. They also have cold cereal and fruits. The hot items are alternate on the 2 days we went: One day is scrambled eggs, french toast and bacon. Another day was with patties of eggs, links and patties of sasauges. It is better than most hotels we have seen and the ladies working there kept refilling everything and kept the area spotless and clean as much as possible. The room we had was very spacious and clean. It is dated but as long as it is clean, that’s all that mattered to me. The towels were fully stocked and they provide daily room services to restock, There is a safe in the closet but I couldn’t figure out how to open it to reset the code, so I ended up not using it (and didn’t need to). There is a gym right across from the dining room where breakfast is at. The lift to the lower level for breakfast and the gym can be slow but if you plan your time well, this shouldn’t be an issue. The AC works well for us the whole time, no issue there. The sheets are crisp and clean. The lobby also smells very nice too. It had a nice seating area and a big screen of all the sidelines and flight statuses so that is also very nice. The bathroom could use a facelift but is is still clean. The hotel has 3 things that are OUTSTANDING to me: 1) Check out time is at 12noon which is UNHEARD of! 2) It offers airport shuttle services, every hour, to the Newark airport! I saw one review said the van doesn’t leave for the airport till after 10 or 11 in the morning, so I made sure my flight was after 12noon when I was booking. Make sure you ask them before you book, just to ensure it works for you! 3) It is a non smoking/smoke free hotel! Overall, this place looks questionable from the outside cuz of the neighborhood but it is such a gem in terms of value, location, convenience and services! We felt very safe walking around there cuz there are tons of people around, really. I would definitely book here again.

I enjoyed my experience here at the Ramada in Jersey City- I was in a double room with 2 beds which was really good since it allowed for privacy for me and the other person staying with me.since the doors closed and both rooms had their own separate tv's.The location was very good -its about a 7-8 minute walk to the PATH train station which goes into NYC and there were plenty of restaurants nearby. The beds were very comfortable , service at hotel was very good and they had a decent buffet breakfast each morning. The only negative thing was the elevator was very slow. A very good value for budget travellers looking for relatively affordable accommodations with easy train access to NYC.
